About Future Tense
Welcome to Future Tense — a space where reflection meets intention, and where I do my best to make sense of where we’ve been, where we’re headed, and what we carry along the way.
I write this blog as a Detroit-rooted storyteller, media leader, and constantly evolving Black woman. My work is deeply personal, shaped by the matriarchs who raised me, the newsrooms that sharpened me, and the communities that continue to hold me accountable.
Here, I explore transitions in leadership, identity, and legacy. Some posts come from the heart, others from the root, but all are written with care.
A note on grammar & AI
Every word on this site is mine. The voice, ideas, and stories all come from me.
That said, I do use AI tools to help catch typos, clean up grammar, and occasionally side-eye my sentence structure when I’m a little too deep in my feelings to remember where commas go. Think of it like a digital copy editor — not the kind that changes your voice, but the kind that gently reminds you “your” and “you’re” are still different.
I believe in transparency and in honoring the process. Writing is messy, and technology is a tool, not a ghostwriter. If you’re here, I trust you’ll appreciate both the polish and the raw edges.
Also, expect to still see errors, because I am human and AI is imperfect.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for being curious.
I hope what you find here helps you feel seen, stretched, or simply not alone.
Stay tense — in the best way.
