Shorter Thoughts: The Damn Blueberries

The best way I can describe life is through Tuesdays.

Eighteen years ago, on a Tuesday, my grandmother woke me up to tell me my mother had died.

Today, on a Tuesday, the hardest part of my morning was realizing I'd accidentally bought two bags of the blueberries I don't like from Trader Joe's. I'm eating them as I listen to my partner practice the trumpet. A craft he had to put down while waiting for a kidney.

Some Tuesdays will break your heart. Some will inconvenience you. Others will sound like magic. Most, you won't even notice.

Time will move. The heart will mend. And you will suffer the blueberries.

And so the Tuesdays go.

Shorter Thoughts is an occasional short piece in which I play around with writing style and how to live.
